SP Labs builds on the experience and the presence of over 40 years in the C&T industry, in Europe, Asia and the USA.

Colour care, UV Care and visual performance Skin Care are the three areas of excellence in which SP Labs offers products and formulations.

The combination of experience, imagination and scientific substance bring to our customers fashion performance products.

SP Labs facility

Based in the heart of the Cosmetic Valley, a center of French industrial concentration of integrated cosmetic manufacturers, our plant is only 70 km away from the capital city, Paris. The facility comprises over 160 000 square feet of land and three modern buildings, the most recent built to the exact standards of the European cGMP level, for Quality Assurance conscious customers. The second building houses the main colour processing techniques for colour fashion products. And finally, the third is the heart of Advanced R&D, with a fully-fledged analytical laboratory, including the latest WET/SEM microscope and CG/MS chemical analysis equipments.

SP Labs and fashion

Fashion is a feeling of what will sell and what will bring sales to our customers, in the 2 or 3 years from now. Fashion is not just pretty colours and new textures, but a rare combination of foresight, taste and performance formulas.
Some strong trends are directives to where fashion is moving, but the creation of fashions and sales are essentially outcomes of breakthrough technology.

Cosmetics are not really price sensitive products; those would be toiletries. Cosmetics are a slice of dream. They are to be functional, but as well attractive to wear, for a total adoption by consumers.

SP Labs and UV Care

We like to think that UV Care is a function, which brings together the two worlds of Anti-Aging and Skin Whitening.

SP for Skin Protection: In Asia, the UVR Protection is the most efficient and safest way to skin whitening.

SP for Skin Penetration: It completely reduces the penetration of photons to activate melanocytes. Its effect is very similar to the skin whitening, visible after having worn a large metal-based watch.

SP for Sun Protection: In Caucasia, where white-skinned consumers prefer to tan, the concern is more of a Sun Protection, or in other words, Anti-Aging one.

96% of the UVR light that hits the skin is UVA and has little effect on tanning, but a great deal for the aging of the skin. At SP Labs we offer a range of rare mineral filters to protect effectively against UVA, and yet allow normal tanning. It is a combined Anti-Age and beauty tanning solution.

SP Labs and Colour Care

Since 1988, when we invented Colour Care for J. Gatineau, we have been able to create fashion and effective colour care products. New colours, thanks to Organic integration, and new series or colour techniques combined with photo-stable materials, will enable us to offer the hottest colours for the next 5 to 6 years.

The fashion matter is extended to foundations, with specific UVR filtering, fresh colours and long lasting photo-stable caring qualities. We call these new foundations the “Touche Jeunesse®”.

New surface charged mascaras have improved definition performance and real lash volume, at the same time re-structuring the lash from within its own internal composition (Oligo Care).

New lip colours are being sublimed by new photonic colours, with strong lip care benefits. The visual impact, as well, turns out to be fascinating.

SP Labs visual “Skin Performance” Skin Care

Day and night wear are treated differently due to the photon exposure during the day, and its very destructive action on our skin. The anti-wrinkle needs are building up increasingly, as generations age longer and longer. New ideas of healthy and lasting beauty are immerging, and adapted products are needed. Today, the need is for Instant Skin Performance techniques.

Visual differences have to be seen within one or two minutes at the most, to convince consumers and therefore drive sales. Gas transformation materials are formulated along with strong dielectric function, as used in Botulism related products, but in this case, safely and without injection. There are the solution for eye-zones.

SP Labs seminars are organized twice a year

For our customer base, we organize twice a year in Dreux, seminars of the latest fashions on all three areas we are present in. We work closely with packaging companies situated in the Cosmetic Valley, bringing performance to new techniques such as preservative free formulations. Creastar® colours permit an almost continuous step ahead of the competition in fashion colour trends, and many colours are on offer as exclusive to our customers.

Vectorisation technology permits to capture the latest trends in skin care actives such as the low molecular weight stem cells and messengers, which are the next generation of performance skin care actives, to come to us from the far-east.

Natural actives have a special place in our fashion trends for night products, and we show the latest fashion naturals in formulations that allow them to express their goodness, in various techniques as Water Free Emulsions® or airless Sequential Skin Care delivery systems.

Seminars are full-day events and can be on an exclusive basis, or shared with other companies.

SP Labs IP function

We are able to help our customers to protect their products with patents, which can be a complicated procedure without experience. All development, which we make together, is initially protected by a CDA, and all work is done on a confidential basis.

By sharing our equipped laboratory, our customers have a possibility to succeed in the very competitive cosmetic industry without investing themselves in the equipment.
